Brown County Community Health Story

Saturday November 8th, 2025, 11:00 am, Brown County Library

Remember the health survey cards that we filled out last winter and spring?  It was all part of a yearlong community driven assessment of Brown County’s health needs.  The year of surveys, focus groups, and local reports included multiple groups, agencies and individuals -- including the Brown County Foundation, The Brown County YMCA, The Brown County Health Department, Brown County Schools, IU Health. Brown County Emergency Management, the Town of Nashville, Centerstone, The Brown County Recovery and Wellness Coalition and many others.

Join us on November 8th 11 am downstairs in the Brown County Public Library as for “Sharing Brown County’s Health Story: the results of the Brown County Community Health Needs Assessment.”  Discover what we learned and how we can transform information into action towards a healthier, more connected Brown County.

The program is open to everyone.  It is hosted by the Brown County League of Woman Voters in partnership with the Brown County Public Library, Brown County Community foundation, the Indiana University Center for Community-Engaged Dissemination and Implementation Research (CCEDIR) and the IU Center for Rural Engagement

An hour-long presentation of the Needs Assessment data will be followed by time for discussion.  Snacks will be provided.

Thank you,

Pam Raider and Cathy Rountree

ReCenter Indiana invites community to be heard at listening sessions, as political pressure to redistrict escalates

ReCenter Indiana, Inc. is inviting Hoosiers to take part in a series of nonpartisan listening sessions this fall, designed to elevate citizen voices and provide critical information about the proposed mid-decade congressional redistricting.

The sessions will be on two more consecutive Thursday evenings – in  Beech Grove and Fishers. CLICK HERE to register to attend a listening session.

Explaining what mid-decade redistricting would mean for Indiana voters will be Laura Merrifield Wilson, associate professor of political science at the University of Indianapolis.

Audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions and share their concerns about the issues that matter most to them and their communities.

ReCenter Indiana, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization reminding all elected officials to center on the priorities of the people, will record each event to help inform policymakers of everyday Hoosiers’ perspectives.

Congressional redistricting normally occurs once every ten years, following the census. The current maps were drawn in 2021 by the Republican-led Indiana General Assembly.
