The League of Women Voters of Brown County is a nonpartisan civic organization that encourages informed and active participation in government. The League works to increase understanding of major public policy issues through education and advocacy. Membership is open to all regardless of gender.

Join us for a timely, nonpartisan conversation with Dr. Marjorie Hershey, a nationally recognized expert on U.S. political parties, elections, and the media’s influence on politics. Drawing on decades of research, Dr. Hershey will explore potential threats to the integrity of the 2026 election results, explain how concerns are identified and addressed, and help participants better understand the systems designed to ensure accurate outcomes.

No Mid Cycle Redistricting
All IN for Democracy Coalition

Our Indiana Constitution states that all power is inherent in the people (Article 1) and that All elections shall be free and equal (Article 2). Hoosiers expect our legislators to serve their constituents, to be fair, and to abide by rules. Political gamesmanship erodes public trust in our democracy.

Because advocates can't take redistricting reform directly to the voters via a ballot initiative, this petition from our friends at All IN for Democracy asks our duly elected Indiana legislators to ensure that our elections are free and equal by not redistricting before 2031.

The All IN for Democracy coalition supports redistricting processes and enforceable standards that promote fair and eIective representation at all levels of government with maximum opportunity for public participation. Our maps should reflect communities, not political calculations.

Our position is compatible with the Indiana constitutional requirement in Article 4, Section 5, that The General Assembly elected during the year in which a federal decennial census is taken shall fix by law the number of Senators and Representatives and apportion them among districts according to the number of inhabitants in each district, as revealed by that federal decennial census. The territory in each district shall be contiguous.

We call on our Indiana legislators to abide by the Indiana Constitution and oppose any attempt to draw new Congressional or legislative maps before the next regular round of redistricting in 2031.

In this nonpartisan speech, Jon Meacham walks audiences through moments that have seemed intractable – which can include the Influenza Pandemic of 1918, the battle against polio, FDR’s reaction to the first days of the Depression, Winston Churchill’s decision to fight on against Hitler and the Cuban Missile Crisis – to offer lessons for leaders in how to endure and prevail.
